77 kindergartens receive a subsidy for transporting children on educational excursions
The Council of Ministers has approved funding aimed at supporting public kindergartens in remote and rural areas with the cost of transporting children to educational excursions, visits, and extracurricular activities. This initiative, announced on Tuesday, will benefit 77 kindergartens this year.
Following the Cabinet meeting, Minister of Education, Sports, and Youth Athina Michaelidou shared details of the measure, emphasizing its focus on small and remote kindergartens, especially those in mountainous regions.
"The approved grant of €120,000 is intended to aid the holistic development of young children, ensuring that they have the opportunity to participate in educational experiences from an early age", explained Ms. Michaelidou.
Addressing questions, the minister highlighted the additional expenses associated with travel from remote areas for events, organized trips, and special visits. "We want to ensure these children can access such activities without facing financial limitations due to their location", she added.
