Residents across Cyprus may notice low-flying helicopters operating over various communities throughout June as part of a scheduled electricity network maintenance programme. The operation aims to help ensure a reliable power supply during the busy summer season, when energy demand is typically at its highest.

The helicopters will be used to clean high-voltage insulators along transmission lines, reducing the risk of faults and helping improve network performance. Test flights are expected to take place in parts of the Nicosia district before the main programme moves through several regions of the island. The helicopters will follow transmission line routes and may be visible over a number of urban and rural areas.

The maintenance campaign will continue until the end of the month, covering multiple districts in phases. According to the electricity authority, the works form part of routine infrastructure maintenance designed to strengthen network reliability and minimise the likelihood of power disruptions during the peak summer period. The schedule may be adjusted depending on weather conditions and operational requirements.
