The growing popularity of Airbnb among tourists in Cyprus is highlighted by a recent observation made by Marios Tsianakas, Tourism Officer at the Deputy Ministry of Tourism.

Tsianakas highlighted this development, noting a noticeable increase in self-catering options in recent years, with over 6,700 accommodation units and exceeding 30,000 beds as of his statement on February 20th.

Tsianakas claims that this trend is representative of a broader movement that is happening throughout Europe, especially among younger generations. These travellers are drawn to Airbnb-style accommodation because of its affordability and flexibility, which fits with their desire for more individualised travel experiences without going over budget.

Tsianakas acknowledged the trend's economic benefits and mentioned how well it was doing for the local economy. Travellers who choose such accommodations typically spread their spending over a wide variety of services, such as dining establishments, transportation, and rental cars, thereby improving the region's general vitality.
