Tourism: advertising expenditures of €28 million
With a sizable budgetary allotment for 2025, the Deputy Ministry of Tourism is concentrating on promoting Cyprus as a holiday destination. €27.7 million of the €65.6 million overall budget will be put aside for outreach initiatives, airline partnerships, and international advertising campaigns.
The budget also allocates €3.45 million for participation in tourism fairs with stands and workshops, most of which are hosted abroad. The 2015 Casino Operation and Control Law provides an additional €3,440,126 to support the National Gaming and Casino Supervision Authority. This also includes €5,000 for annual membership fees for six Tourism Development Companies.
Recovery and resilience plan projects
The budget also supports four key projects under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RSP), amounting to €8.1 million. These projects focus on:
€3.2 million for upgrading hotels and accommodations in rural areas.
€2 million for enhancing traditional catering establishments under the 'Taste of Cyprus' initiative.
€900,000 for health and wellness tourism facilities.
€2 million for revitalizing rural areas and €1.685 million for supporting Tourism Development and Promotion Companies.
Hospitality and miscellaneous expenses
An allocation of €556,120 is set aside for hospitality expenses related to promoting Cyprus. This includes:
€550,000 for hosting tour operators, travel organizers, and influencers.
€4,080 for refreshments at meetings chaired by the Deputy Minister.
€2,040 for beverages during official meetings.
Further expenses include €80,000 for maintaining office buildings and €150,000 for staff training.
Consultant expenditures
A budget of €647,000 is allocated for consultancy services, which includes:
€380,000 for developing a marina in Kissonerga, Paphos.
€62,000 for creating a digital historical archive of tourism in Cyprus.
€40,000 for a survey on outdoor tourism amenities.
€30,000 for implementing conditions outlined in the National Tourism Strategy 2030 assessment.
Lastly, €230,000 is budgeted for training local tourism professionals, ensuring the industry remains competitive and informed.
