Cyprus strengthens commitment to green and innovative tourism
Cyprus’ top tourism organisations, Pasyxe and Stek, have renewed their focus on sustainability, innovation, and year-round growth. Their goal is to develop tourism that respects the environment, supports local communities, and improves the quality of life in Cyprus. This year’s theme, “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation,” highlights how tourism can be a positive force for change.
They stressed the importance of investing in green technologies, reducing energy use, and offering new types of tourism such as cultural, rural, and experiential experiences. Tourism, they say, is not only vital for the economy but also a way to promote Cyprus’ culture, heritage, and traditions.
The UN Secretary-General also supported this vision, noting that sustainable tourism creates jobs, strengthens communities, and brings people together. He added that careful planning is essential to ensure tourism benefits both people and the planet.
