Community effort strengthens animal welfare across Nicosia

Nicosia has expanded its efforts to support stray animals with the installation of 21 feeding stations across its municipal districts, along with two dedicated feeding areas in public parks. The initiative aims to provide a more organised and consistent approach to caring for stray cats throughout the city.

The programme was developed in cooperation with volunteers and focuses on promoting responsible animal welfare practices. As part of the launch, a practical demonstration showcased how the feeding stations are used effectively, helping to ensure proper care and maintenance. The event also saw participation from young children, adding a community-oriented and educational element to the initiative.

Alongside this effort, a new awareness campaign has been introduced to encourage a more pet-friendly environment across the city. The initiative highlights the importance of coexistence between residents and animals, with the broader goal of creating a more inclusive and compassionate urban space.
