Seven kilometers west of Dali village and three kilometers northwest of Agia Varvara, on the west bank of the Gialia river, at an average elevation of 280 meters, is where the Nicosia District village of Kotsiatis is located. Today, the settlement is inhabited by displaced individuals who migrated there as soon as the Turkish Cypriots departed.
As for the village’s name, uncertainty surrounds the name’s etymology. It is speculated that the name may have Turkish roots. The name is derived from the Greek word Kotsiati, which signifies a bold face, according to the Centre for Social Research of the Republic of Cyprus.
From a transportation standpoint, Kotsiatis is connected to the villages of Marki to the northwest, Agia Varvara to the southeast, and Nisou to the northeast. It is also connected to the two major cities by the new Nicosia-Limassol Road, which runs about 3 km east of it.
Various artifacts from the final (third) phase of the Early Bronze Age period, as well as archaeological remains discovered there, provide proof that the area around the settlement of Kotsiatis was inhabited for a very long time.
