The Department of Public Works has announced a significant upgrade to bus stops across the country as part of a comprehensive five-year plan aimed at enhancing public transport infrastructure. This initiative wants to improve the quality and accessibility of bus services for all users.

From October to December 2024, construction work will focus on various urban roads, with specific upgrades planned in several districts. The targeted areas for the upgrades include:

Nicosia District:

  • Strovolos Avenue
  • Archbishop Makarios III Avenue - Limassol Avenue
  • Athalassa Avenue
  • Larnaca Avenue
  • Niki Avenue
  • Georgiou Griva Digeni Avenue
  • Iosif Ch''Iosif Street (Strovolos)
  • Kantara Street (Strovolos)
  • Elaionon Street (Strovolos)
  • Perikleous-Andrea Avraamides Street (Strovolos)

Limassol District:

  • Archbishop Makarios III Avenue
  • Georgiou Griva Digeni Avenue
  • Franklin Roosevelt Avenue
  • Spyrou Araouzou-28th October Street (Seafront)
  • Agias Fylaxeos Avenue
  • Limassol Port Access Road

Larnaca District:

  • United States of America Avenue
  • Eleftherias Avenue
  • Georgiou Christodoulidi Street
  • Athinon Avenue
  • Grigori Afxentiou Avenue
  • Archbishop Makarios III Avenue - Famagusta Avenue - Dhekelia Road

Famagusta District:

Paphos District:

The upgrades will involve the excavation of pavements to create solid foundations, followed by the installation of new shelters at the bus stops.

The Public Works Department urges pedestrians, bus users, and motorists to exercise extra caution in these upgraded areas and to follow local regulations for their own safety during the construction period.
