Construction materials index drops 1.32% annually
According to CySTAT, the Price Index of Construction Materials for May 2024 showed an annual decline of 1.32%. According to the most recent data, the index increased slightly from the previous month to 117.35 units (base year 2021=100), a gain of 0.11%.
Diverse patterns may be seen in CySTAT's analysis by major commodity categories. The metallic items had a significant decrease of 6.68%, but the electromechanical products had an increase of 3.24%. In addition, there was a 1.01% increase in minerals, a 0.49% increase in mineral products, and a 0.30% increase in items including plastics, chemicals, wood, and insulation.
When comparing the January–May 2024 period to the same time in 2023, the index indicates a decrease of 1.81%.
