Pera Chorio is a settlement established to the south of the Gialia River and next to the Nisou village in the Nicosia District, almost in the middle of Cyprus. The villages of Dali, Kotsiati, Alampra, Latsia, Tseri, and Agia Varvara are on its borders. It is made up of two communities, Nisou and Pera Chorio, which have independent but share a community council.
There is no mention of Pera Chorio in old sources, however, it is believed that a community likely lived in the area during the Middle Ages. The village's name, Pera Chorio, is derived from its location "beyond" the river and the village of Nisou. This relationship between the two communities is reflected in the current name of the village, Pera Chorio-Nisou.
