Fikardou village is situated some 40 kilometers southwest of Nicosia and can be found nestled on the southeast slope of the Troodos Mountains. It is a traditional settlement with an age-old history. The church within the village, devoted to the two Apostles Peter and Paul, is from the 18th century. Until recently, it had been closed and only used for the celebration on June 29th.
Today, Fikardou is home to a very small number of permanent residents, all of whom were drawn to the village by its breathtaking beauty, its ideal weather, the variety of its plants and animals, and its serene atmosphere. The village has a mountainous Cypriot-style architecture, featuring simple shapes constructed with locally sourced rough hard stones. Most of the houses are two storeys with sloping roofs on the upper floor covered by Byzantine tiles and flat ground floors.
