Potamiou is a lovely village in the district of Limassol, which is surrounded by mountains, vineyards, lush landscape, and is established on the west bank of the Chapotami river at an average elevation of 670 meters above sea level. The settlement, which borders Omodos, Mallia, and Kissousa, is 39 kilometers northeast of the city of Limassol. The name of the settlement has undoubtedly taken it from the river Chapotami. Writing from older times uses the Greek word “potamos” as a common root to relate to the name of the hamlet.
Potamiou is part of the wine village of the Limassol and Paphos region, since wine-making grapes grow on the village’s grounds, along with other fruit trees.
