Agios Dometios is a municipality in the west of Nicosia with an average altitude of 160 meters. It has been an independent municipality since 1986 but unfortunately, most of it has been under Turkish occupation since 1974. The village is located just 3 km away from Nicosia and is crossed by the streams of Ciema and Tziinnar, which are tributaries of Pediados.
It was first referred to in Frankish times as a feudal territory, and it was a small village until recent years with two churches dedicated to Saint Georgios and Saint Dometios, from which the name of the municipality derives. Notable landmarks in the area include the Agios Dometios barricade, which opened to the public in 2004, and the Nicosia Race Club.
The real estate market in the area boasts a plethora of properties including luxury apartments, penthouse apartments, villas, semi-detached houses, houses, bungalows, and plots of land.
