Geri is a little rural municipality that belongs to the district of Nicosia and is located 10 kilometers southeast of the capital. The center of Geri is very charming and does not go unnoticed with its brick-built houses, small streets. Geri has currently 7,639 residents (World Population Review).
Geri is identified as "Ieri" on old Venetian maps. Feudal lords owned it during the Middle Ages. Important to note is that Geri has an industrial zone which operates since the 90s, where bricks, plastic products, animal feed and poultry feed are mainly produced. The municipality is certainly regarded as one of the most rapidly expanding areas in Nicosia, with the new residential buildings being evidence of this. It is home to two public kindergartens, two elementary schools and a high school.
In the municipality’s central square, there are also monuments and a museum dedicated to the heroes of Geri and are hereby commemorated. Additionally, there is a Folklore Museum where people can view exhibits that are relevant to Cyprus's historical occupations.
