Since 1994, Germasogeia, a Limassol suburb, has been a separate municipality and belongs to the Limassol district. It has a boundary with the towns of Agios Athanasios and the city of Limassol. Germasogeia's coastal region started to expand around 1960. The first plots were split up at the same time to make room for new buildings.
