Lagoudera is a village situated at the base of Madari mountain, with an average altitude of around 1000 meters. It is located in the Nicosia district and is part of the Pitsilia region. Lagoudera is one of the 20 highest villages in Cyprus and boasts of wild vegetation, including pines, "lazzi", sumac, chamomile, hazelnuts, and roses.
The origin of the name of the village of Lagoudera dates back to the Frankish period. According to local tradition, it was named after a type of cyclamen that grows in the area and is known as "laoudia" or, in the Cypriot dialect, "fkia tou laou," which means hare's ears.
