Cyprus has become one of Europe’s top performers in air connectivity, ranking second overall compared to 2019, according to a report by the Aviation Council International. Despite its geographical distance from mainland Europe, the country has successfully strengthened its position on the tourism map through strategic efforts to expand and improve flight connections.

Today, 55 airlines from 39 different countries operate routes to Cyprus. Deputy Minister of Tourism Costas Koumis highlighted that several new routes have been added in recent years, particularly from the Balkans, Poland, Germany, and the Scandinavian countries. However, he emphasized that the most significant achievement has been the increase in the frequency of existing routes, which has made travel to and from Cyprus more accessible.

These improvements have contributed to strong tourism performance. According to Cyprus’ Statistical Service, tourism revenue in the first seven months of the year rose by 17.4% compared to the same period last year, reflecting the success of ongoing efforts to enhance connectivity and attract more visitors to the island.
