With the official implementation of the Lobbying Law by the Independent Authority against Corruption, which takes effect tomorrow, March 1, there will be important changes ahead.

The Transparency in Public Decision-Making Processes Act 20(I)/2022, which contains the entirety of Lobbying Legislation, states that it will go into effect on March 1, 2024. This implies that all of the obligations outlined for lobbyists and officials will take effect simultaneously.

The Authority stresses that before participating in any communication on the public decision-making process, as defined by the Act, all officials must carefully verify the registration status of the individuals listed in the Register of Registration. This highlights the necessity of compliance.

Furthermore, individuals intending to participate in public decision-making processes are strongly encouraged to ensure their registration in the Register of Registration well in advance.

The Authority offers useful forms (L01-L012), circulars addressed to both officials and lobbyists, and comprehensive information on registration applications for anyone in need of advice. These resources can be accessed through the Authority's official website.

The primary objective of the Law, as articulated, is to establish a transparent framework surrounding public decision-making processes, aimed at deterring any conditions that may foster or facilitate corrupt practices.
