With 1.4 million passengers passing through Cyprus's two main airports in September, Larnaca and Paphos had an important rise in passenger traffic. This impressive figure not only highlights a strong upward trend for the year but also sets a new record for passenger numbers in September.

When compared to September 2023, passenger traffic increased by 7%, further establishing this month as the busiest September on record.

Hermes Airports reports that the UK, Greece, Israel, Poland, and Germany were the top passenger sources at Larnaca Airport. In the meanwhile, the UK, Greece, Poland, Israel, and France were the main contributors to Paphos Airport.

The growth trend continued over the first nine months of the year, with a total of 9.5 million passengers traveling through the airports from January to September. This reflects a 5% increase compared to the same timeframe in the previous year.

With almost 1,000 flights scheduled each week in October, flight schedules are still quite full. In comparison to the same period last year, airlines have added 300,000 extra seats for the November to March period, suggesting optimism for the winter season.

Maintaining this trend of growth is essential, according to Maria Kouroupi, Director of Aviation Development, Marketing, and Communication at Hermes Airports. "It is crucial to maintain strong prospects for continued growth and to invest in improving connectivity, which will bring numerous benefits to our country", she said.
