Hoteliers in Cyprus are facing an increase of cancellations from Israeli tourists for the month of October due to the continuous instability in the Middle East. In a recent statement to CYPE, Thanos Michaelides, President of the Pancyprian Hoteliers Association, expressed these worries. He noted that, for the next year, 2025, there has also been a noticeable decrease in bookings from Europe.

Michaelides cautioned that if future bookings decline, Cyprus would lose out on early reservations. He pointed out that the existing cancellations cannot be recovered. He explained that early bookers often take advantage of discounted travel packages.

Michaelides claimed a great performance for September's occupancy rates, which reached 80%. He said that the number of visitors was satisfactory because last-minute bookings had a good impact on it. Although there were initially high hopes for October, he admitted that there has been an enormous loss of overnight stays due to the extended conflict in Israel.
