Growth across the entire economy in 2022: output value by sector
In 2022, every economic sector had notable expansion, according per the most recent Services and Transport Survey. When compared to 2021, the tertiary sector in particular showed a noticeable growth tendency.
The Bureau of Statistics' data revealed impressive increases in output value in a number of sectors:
Transport and Storage (Sector H): Increased by 29.3%
Accommodation and Food Service Activities (Sector I): Increased by 44.8%
Information and Communication (Sector J): Increased by 37.6%
Real Estate Management (Sector L): Increased by 18.2%
Professional, Scientific, and Technical Activities (Sector M): Increased by 13.0%
Administrative and Support Service Activities (Sector N): Increased by 23.2%
Education (Sector P): Increased by 8.7%
Human Health and Social Work Activities (Sector Q): Increased by 7.9%
Arts, Entertainment, and Recreation (Sector R): Increased by 40.2%
Other Service Activities (Sector S): Increased by 10.5%
When looking at value added at current prices, all sectors saw increases, with some sectors experiencing significant growth:
Accommodation and Food Service Activities: Increased by 48.0%, reaching €1,397.1 million
Information and Communication: Increased by 38.4%, reaching €2,764.3 million
Arts, Entertainment, and Recreation: Increased by 44.3%, amounting to €311.1 million
Administrative and Support Activities: Increased by 21.4%, totaling €617.3 million
Transport and Storage: Increased by 17.0%, reaching €949.6 million
Education: Increased by 15.8%, totaling €428.7 million
Employment figures also saw a rise in 2022, with the highest numbers recorded in the following sectors:
Accommodation and Food Service Activities: 52,247 employees
Professional, Scientific, and Technical Activities: 38,289 employees
Information and Communication: 21,024 employees
Transport and Storage: 20,686 employees
Administrative and Support Activities: 17,942 employees
These numbers highlight the strong increase that all economic sectors experienced in 2022, indicating a favourable trend and a substantial amount of economic activity.
