Vouni is a lovely village in the district of Limassol with a rich architectural legacy, as it has cobwebby lanes, old traditional houses with wooden doors, narrow balconies, and inner yards, drawing tourists as well as locals who enjoy seeing the combination of contemporary life and culture. It is situated 800 meters above sea level in the Krasochoria area. The village extends along a southern-gradient slope. The “Moutti tou Afami” position, north of the settlement, and the beds of the rivers "Chapotami" in the west and "Kryos Potamos" in the east make up the stunning landscape of the hamlet.
The settlement was given the name "Vouni," which means "low mountain," because of its location. Vouni has been a vine settlement since ancient years, but nowadays due to the current rural population decline, viticulture has been considerably curtailed. The earliest surviving account of the village dates to the Middle Ages and can be found on Venetian maps.
What is more, the village is home to several museums including the Museum of Folk Art and the Museum of Byzantine. Additionally, there is an old primary school, an olive mill, an oenological center, and a Venetian water basin, that add up to the cultural side of the village.
