Flasou is a small picturesque village in the Solia region of Nicosia, located roughly 3 kilometers northwest of Evrychou village. The small community is situated in the Karkotis River valley at an average altitude of 330 meters, with two main neighborhoods: Pano Flassou and Kato Flasou. Traditionally, Turkish-Cypriots resided in Pano Flassou while Greek-Cypriots lived in Kato Flassou. The total area of the village is 494 hectares. Heading northwest of the village lies a road connecting Flassou and Linou, which is about 1 kilometer in length. To the southeast, another route joins Evrychou and the village, at a distance of around 3 kilometers.
During the Medieval period, the village was known as Flace, Flasso, or Phlasso, and old maps even showed it being marked as both Flaso and Fluso. It has been suggested that during the Frankish rule, the village was owned by a medieval family called de Flaße. This leads to the conclusion that this was the source of the village's name in honor of its proprietors, the de Flaßes family.
On the other hand, it is believed by some that the original founder of the village’s name was Vlasos, as it is suggested that the village’s founding dates back to the Byzantine era and that it was originally called St. Vlasios. Therefore, its current name of Flasou is of hagiological origin.
