Clearer road markings coming to the Aglantzia-Geri route to reduce confusion

Works began today to fix safety problems on the Aglantzia–Geri road after drivers complained about confusing lane markings on the three-lane section. Public Works officials said the road does not normally fall under their responsibility, but they are intervening following pressure from the Geri and Aglantzia municipalities.

Old painted markings were still visible beneath new ones, causing confusion for drivers. All road lines are now being repainted with thermoplastic paint, and arrows and new signs are being added to clarify that the road has one lane from Aglantzia to Geri and two lanes in the opposite direction.

Further upgrades are planned, including pavements, a cycle lane and lighting, with the project expected to be tendered in the second half of 2026. The intervention followed complaints raised by Aglantzia’s Deputy Mayor directly with the Transport Minister, prompting immediate action.
